CV extension for the MIxS mandatory term <investigation type>

Reported by: pthoopen Owned by: pyilmaz
Priority: minor Component: MIxS general
Version: 4.1 Keywords: metatranscriptome
Cc: Sensitive: no

Description

The mandatory MIxS descriptor 'Investigation type' is currently missing in its CV the term 'metatranscriptome'.
ENA recurrently receives requests from submitters for this term and since it is not available in the CV, submitters choose not to use the MIxS compliant checklist and describe their samples with the ENA default checklist instead (which is not the preferred option).

We suggest to extend the CV with the term 'metatranscriptome'.

The CV amendment might suggest addition of a new checklist, i.e. Minimum Information about a MetaTranscriptome? Sequence. However, this would need a more substantial development and possibly revisit of the MIMS as well.
